Summary: For once, something a little fresh, at least by K-Drama standards. We're talking body exchange, which has been done many times on the big screen, but rarely on Korean TV. The idea of Park Jin-Hee playing an Ajumma and Shim Hye-Jin going into sexy mode sounds just about right (the initial setup is the opposite, obviously), and if the script builds on the interesting outline, this could be fun.

Genre: Drama, School

Episodes: 11

Playlist COMPLETE and PRIVATE as of Nov. 23, 2006

Summary: Yuki Amami plays Maya Akutsu, a sixth-grade teacher who dresses all in black and is repeatedly referred to as "oni sensei" (the teacher from hell), when, in fact, she seems to be an ultrarealist at heart. The drama focuses on a year in her classroom and, particularly, the effect it has on 12-year-old Kazumi--a nice but mediocre student whose parents want to send her to a private secondary school.

Akutsu-sensei accomplished this feat by introducing a test-based rank and privilege system on the first day. The highest scorers on the Monday morning test get their choice of seats and other perks while the two lowest scorers are burdened with all the chores for the week from blackboard and toilet cleaning to serving lunch. The system also disallows toilet breaks during class because this reflects an inability to manage one's own schedule.

Kazumi gets the first week's work assignment along with the class clown, a warmhearted boy who is not nearly as silly as he acts. The child actors in the series are all likeable pros who give realistic portrayals of the wide spectrum of an average classroom from the isolated serious students to the sophisticated girls who think they already know what life is all about. Akutsu-sensei lets them know immediately that they do not have a clue.

When the students protest her system and call it unfair, she tells them to open their eyes. In Japanese society, she lectures, those who work hard or have influence get all the privileges, and the lazy or less affluent end up with the leftovers. She says only six in 100 people can expect to be happy and the elite already have most of the advantages and access to the best medical care. She tells them that, as products of the public school system, they will have to scramble to get anything at all, and most of them will end up as "bonjin" (ordinary people), to whom those on the top will be happy to leave the soldiering and service-sector jobs.

Natsumi, who works in a cafe, loves lunchtime. In fact, nothing excites her more than walking down the street thinking where she'll eat lunch at.

One day, a man by the name of Kennichiro suddenly interrupts Natsumi as she is savoring her favorite rice omelet. He pulls the furious Natsumi out of the restaurant and begs her to come home with him so that he can introduce her to his family. He explains to her that his father is sick, and since leaving home two years ago after a big fight, the only way he can return home is if he has a fiancee with him.

Kennichiro's father Kenzo and 3 younger brothers - Yuujiro, Junzaburo, and Koshiro - run a restaurant called "Kitchen Macaroni." Also working at the restaurant are Mamoru, a chef; and Minoru, a live-in apprentice cook.

As Kennichiro and Natsumi approach the restaurant, Kennichiro asks Natsumi to go in alone and check out what is happening inside. Natsumi reluctantly enters alone. As she takes a look around, she sees Koshiro talking to Tomato Shiomi, who works at the nearby grocery store called "Shiomi." Kennichiro's other brothers are working in the kitchen. Next she spots Kenzo, who according to Kennichiro is supposed to be ill. Naturally, Natsumi can't believe how irresponsible Kennichiro is for telling such lies. While she is thinking this, the omelet that she ordered arrives. She takes one bite out of it, and as she smiles, the next thing out of her mouth is, "delicious!" A short time after, Kennichiro walks into the restaurant, and his brother Yujiro grabs him and starts lecturing him for showing his face. Natsumi breaks them apart, but senses Kennichiro isn't appreciated there.

Summary: This is a great comedy drama about Kyung Min and Jung Eun who live together in a "house above the roof" (literal translation of "okh tap bang"). This drama has got to be the best k-drama of 2003 for me as it brings in such a refreshing and lively plot that is realistic at the same time. This drama has so many cute and funny moments that there had been many times when I caught myself laughing uncontrollably at the attics of Kyung Min and Jung Eun, watching the drama alone in my room.

Kyung Min and Jung Eun plays very cute characters in here which makes them the most adorable couple. Kyung Min plays an irresponsible player in the drama who is full of mischief, flirtatious with the girls and can be a total jerk at times. However, the drama progresses with Kyung Min slowly stepping out of his immaturity as he discovers his new found affection towards Jung Eun. The drama explores realistic scenes of two people living together, their hardship, friendship and eventual love that developed. I love the hundred adorable expressions by Kyung Min and Jung Eun which makes this drama one of my favorites for 2003. Though a light and comedic drama, it is not without the melodramatic element that makes this a worthwhile drama to watch. The acting of both lead actors bring in the appropriate chemistry, with hilarious moments coupled with emotional scenes all in one.

This drama, based on a popular novel, depicts realistically how Naoko lives her everyday life, including her love life, the problems she faces, and her uneasiness about the future. Naoko, 32, works in the corporate strategy division. She is single, and has been working hard for 10 years, now she often finds herself in the role of training and guiding the younger female workers. Recently she realizes that most of the temporary and contracted workers’ goals are to find an elite male employee within the company to marry. Naoko also hopes that the man of her dreams, a prince on a white horse will one day come into her life, but it seems like her younger co-workers are always the ones who win the hearts of all the elite men.

One day, on the way home from work, a handsome man saves Naoko from a drunk man who was bothering her, but she sees the wedding ring on his finger, and feels the emptiness of being single. One day, Naoko goes out to play golf with the general manager and other co-workers, and there she unexpectedly meets her former co-worker, Eriko Sawaki. Naoko gets distracted by Eriko and the happy atmosphere around her, and ends up with a terrible golf score. After finishing the round, Eriko’s husband comes to pick her up, and Naoko is surprised when she sees his face. Eriko’s husband is the handsome man who saved her from the drunk man. Naoko’s heart starts pounding, and she can’t help but envy Eriko’s happy life.

When working women reach their 30s, they start to worry about various things; “How long should I continue working for this company?”, “Will I marry the man I am dating?” “If I continue living like this what will I do when I grow old?” etc. In this drama, the main character, who is a 32-year old single woman working at a prestigious trading company, suddenly finds herself as one of the elders at the office, being a big sister to her younger co-workers. From the outside, it seems like she is a happy and successful businesswoman, but inside she is insecure and worried about her future. Summary: Satonaka Halu is the captain and star player of an ice hockey team, who is greatly respected by his teammates. For him, hockey is serious business that fully occupies his mind, while he treats romance as if it were a game.

Murase Aki is a typical OL (office lady), and is waiting for her boyfriend to return from studying architecture abroad. At this point in time however, he shows no sign of coming back. One day, Aki's friends who are determined to find her a new boyfriend, invite her to watch an ice hockey game. There she sees Halu for the first time.

After the game, Aki and her friends join the players for a party celebrating their victory. Aki, however, is not so excited to be there. When she leaves the party, she bumps into Halu, who was slightly injured from a fight. They exchange e-mail addresses and part.

The sparks of mutual attraction are ignited in a second encounter between Aki and Halu, arranged with the help of her friends shortly after a party.

Hyodo Yuichiro has come as a replacement for the team's coach who has been hospitalized. Halu has a lot of respect for the hospitalized coach. Unfortunately though, he can't stand Yuichiro's way of doing things. Bringing with him a lot of coaching experience from overseas, Yuichiro criticizes the former coach's strategies. Whenever Halu and Yuichiro see each other, they get into a quarrel; consequently influencing Halu's behavior during games.

Seeing that his game ended in a brawl, Aki visits Halu to comfort him. But he tells her that she is being too friendly with him.

Aki is hurt, Halu is irritated, and his teammate Sakaguchi can't stand seeing Halu like this...

Choi Yeo Jin

Genre: Family, Drama

Episodes: 16

Playlist COMPLETE and PRIVATE as of Nov. 18, 2006

Summary: Choi Jang Soo, a powerful detective, is devoting his limited-time life to the happiness of his wife and two children after he receives the sentence. This drama stands apart from previous dramas by reminding viewers of the importance of strong family ties through its main character, an Alzheimer’s-stricken detective Choi Jang-soo. Jang-soo decides to do his best to make his family happy after he learns that he has little time left to live. Portrayed by top stars, Chae Si-ra (who plays So-young) and Yoo Oh-sung (who plays Jang-soo), the main characters of the drama depict a true-to-life story of a married couple: a wife who holds several jobs to buy a home and her sly yet lovely husband. The couple goes through a challenging time when fund manager Jun-ho, who has loved So-young for a long time, and ex-criminal Hyun-soo, who loves Jang-soo, appear in their lives. The portrayals of Jun-ho by actor Cho Yun-woo and of Hyun-soo by Choi Yeo-jin are quite impressive. The drama honestly depicts the everyday reality of fathers who have no other choice but to neglect their families to earn the living and mothers who turn into stouthearted “warriors” who can do anything for the sake of their families.
